Landscapes
These works are inspired by the Cumbrian fells – their sculptural rock formations, shifting light, and elemental weather.
Whilst out walking the fells, I take my small sketchbook and a pencil so that I can quickly capture a scene or the moment the light breaks through the clouds. It doesn’t matter what the weather is like, there is always something that grabs my attention. In fact, I much prefer the drama of bad weather to a clear blue sky and sunny weather, although I am grateful for those days too, as they are a little rarer than the blustery, raining days which are more common in the Lakes. Without those blustery rainy days, we wouldn’t have the gifts that are the Cumbrian Fells, so no complaints here.
